Job Description

Provides day-to-day supervision and management of a group of children.

Plans and implements safe, high quality and enriching faith-based programs, working directly with the staff team, children, families, and supervisors.

Plans and implements program in accordance with the goals and policies of the center weekly, submitting lesson plans to directors in a timely manner.

Coordinates activities which fit the children’s developmental needs.

Provides leadership to volunteers and oversee the activities of a group of children. Supervises a group of children to ensure their health and safety, and to provide for a positive experience for each child. Children are in visual and auditory range at all times.

Communicates with children, families, staff, volunteers, and supervisors in a positive and professional manner.

Conducts conferences regularly, per center policy.

Follows Center policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situation, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.

Maintains confidentiality of children, families, staff information, and staff salary/wages are keep confidential from other staff, families, volunteers, etc.

Maintains ordered arrangement, appearance, décor, cleanliness, and learning environment of class and center.  Classroom environment is free of food debris, clutter, garbage/recycling. Environment kept clean.

Ensures that program is culturally responsive to children and families.

Professionally engages with families to provide pertinent information about their child’s experiences and to promote upcoming programs. Maintains up-to-date daily reports and current student portfolios.

Maintains required records according to DCYF, Early Achievers, USDA, and Center records including, but not limited to: daily reports, attendance sheets, USDA meal counts, medical, illness/accident/incident reports, anecdotal records, cleaning checklists, registration forms, etc.

Encourages family involvement, assists directors in identifying potential volunteers. Help in recruiting families/parents for the Parent Advisory Council.

Attends staff meetings and trainings as required by DCYF, Early Achievers, USDA, and Center policies.

Job Requirements

18 years of age or older

High School graduate or equivalent (provide educational transcripts)

Be willing to attain or already have an initial ECE certificate or equivalent as approved and verified in the STARS/MERIT/electronic workforce registries within 5 years of being hired or promoted into this position at any licensed early learning program.

Progress towards an ECE short certificate or equivalent. Within 2 years of receiving an ECE initial certificate, or 7 years from being employed or promoted in this position.

Be willing to complete pre-service trainings with DCYF.

Professional Development documented annually (MERIT)

Current Washington State Driver’s License (provide copy)

Current state approved first-aid certification (provide copy)

Current state approved CPR (infant, child, adult) certification (provide copy)

Tuberculosis Test by Mantoux method (provide results from physician)

Current Immunization Records (provide copy)

HIV/AIDS Training (provide copy of training)

Bloodborne Pathogen Training Certificate (provide copy)

Current state approved Food Handler Card (provide copy)

Current Safe Sleep Training (provide certificate)

Prefer knowledge of, and 2 years previous experience working with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
