Job Description

ImaginArt knows that education is more than the acquisition of information, for that reason we are looking for an enthusiastic teacher who cultivates a sense of wonder and inspires children to explore and learn with inner enthusiasm, love, and independence through the ability of thinking, feeling, and doing.

As a member of our ImaginArt teacher team, some of your responsibilities will include:

assume postures in low-level positions that best allow physical and visual contact with children, bend to perform various tasks numerous times throughout the day, stoop, sit on the floor, and have the ability to move from a seated position to a standing position promptly to respond to emergency situations.

 

 Perform all activities with children, i.e. jump, dance, walk, run, etc. for extended periods of time both indoors and outdoors. Depending upon activities and season.

 

Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor the environment and children's well-being.

 

Teachers are responsible for maintaining their own classroom which includes: Classroom Environment, Classroom setup, and Cleaning.

 

 Assist in planning imaginArt events and curriculum.

 

Teachers are responsible for implementing the curriculum based on seasons, participating in an active way throughout the way, and facilitating a diverse range of activities, circle time, and curriculum.

 

Teachers are responsible to communicate with administration staff and making documentation of each child’s work and abilities.

 

Teachers are required to effectively work with their team members.

 

Teachers are in charge of the well-being of the children in the classroom.

 

Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children.

 

 Train and supervise teacher assistants within the classroom.

 

 Meet with parents throughout the year to discuss the child’s progress.

 

 Create and update games and workshops.

 

 Maintains confidential children, parents and/or ImaginArt’s information in accordance with company policies.

 

Attends Open House, Back to School Night, Teacher In-Service days, and all weekly staff meetings and bi-weekly teacher curriculum meetings.

 

Ensures children behave well when in contact with other kids.

 

Nurture and care for children.

 

Provide and supervise nutritious snacks.

 

Supervise lunch and rest time.

 

Perform good hand-washing techniques.

 

Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

 

Prepare bottles if necessary and change diapers.

 

Ensure children have adequate supplies from home, such as diapers, extra clothes, wipes, creams.

 

Comfort children when they are crying.

 

Supervise children while they are playing outside or on a playground.

 

Play with children.
 

Job Requirements

An AA or BA in ECE is preferred.

 

At least 12 units in Child Development; Child, Family, & Community; and ECE Program and Curriculum.

 

A minimum of at least six months of experience working with young children in a developmentally appropriate educational setting.

 

 

A minimum of one year of Waldorf education experience is a plus.

 

 

Applicant must be friendly, patient, love kids, and be a team worker.

 

Ability to communicate with parents effectively and professionally.

 

Ability to multi-task and function in an ever-changing environment.

 

Background and criminal record checks are mandatory by the state.

 

Drug test.

 

 New Jersey health and safety course, identifying child abuse and neglect course, Child development, CPR/First Aid are required.

 

Health Screening and TB.

 

 Immunization records (MMR, Tdap, and flu).
