I am interested in the Early Childhood Education Teacher position with your organization. My experience includes ten years of teaching, tutoring and volunteering with preschool through school age children and an additional four years at Aurora Public Library in youth services. My professional license in elementary education is through Metropolitan State College and I have a B.A. in Art and History from Colorado State University. I have a Masters degree in Library Science School Media Specialist K-12 and a second Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Denver with an emphasis in Literacy. In addition I have ECE credits through Aurora Community College and seven years experience.
I have strong oral and written communication skills and I’m familiar with ELL and special needs strategies. My experience includes assisting with special programs and customer research at Aurora Public Library. I’ve volunteer at Century Elementary as PTA secretary and event volunteer, participant on leadership committee at Jamaica preschool, collaborated on activities with co teachers on new instructional strategies and goals in professional learning communities.
It’s my goal to empower students to become global leaders and citizens with twenty first century strategies and skills. By establishing clear expectations, a safe classroom environment, integrating subjects into project based learning activities students can access their multiple intelligences and problem solving skills. I believe in high expectations, self direction, innovation, critical thinking, collaboration and integrated subjects. I use whole group, discussion, differentiated guided groups, individualized instructional strategies incorporating technology and multiple learning modalities. By working with parents, community, students and the school staff I’ve mentored successful learners and creative thinkers
I have strong computer abilities and I am a self directed, project oriented individual with strong organizational skills. I have been a teacher for Pueblo City Schools 60, Star Academy, Mile High Montessori Head Start, Aurora Public Schools, Denver Public Schools, Crescent View Academy, Cherry Creek substitute and tutor for Club Z tutoring services. I’ve had rich teaching experiences in blended classrooms where I’ve instructed at risk, special needs, gifted students, and second language students. My professional development training has included: Diversity, differentiation, special needs and ELA training and recently I did additional ELA training through UCD. I am familiar with different curricular approaches, common core, and different assessments. My coaches, principals and co workers can attest to my flexibility and positive team player attitude.
