Additional Information
I am very interested in the teaching positions with your school district. I am currently residing in the Chicago land area but am moving to the Sterling area next week. I graduated from Elmhurst College in 2013 where I received a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Special Education. I have a Type 04 teaching certificate with special education endorsement. From 2013- 2015, I taught third grade through the Archdiocese of Chicago in the state of Illinois. During the 2016- 2017 school year, I taught at North Elementary School in a Bilingual Pre-School for All classroom. In this classroom setting I utilized my special education training in working with my students to help all achieve academic and social goals. I have extensive knowledge and experience working with ECER-S and Teaching Strategies Gold/Creative Curriculum. Prior to these teaching experiences I have worked in various early childhood settings working with students of all abilities. In my work as a third grade teacher I was the head of a grant program that introduced Educational Technology into the schools to help increase reading comprehension with our elementary students. I lead a team of 5 teachers and the principal in this endeavor. Also, I was the S.T.E.M. leader for the elementary school where my main job was to work with other teachers to help facilitate various science and math activities in the classrooms. Lastly, I lead a writing club for students in grades 3-8 to help increase understanding of different types of writing and focus on skills required to be successful in school. I have many skills that I have acquired through my previous teaching experiences. In addition to being trained in early childhood education, I have training in Early Intervention services for children between the ages of birth to three. This training allows me to understand a child from a very unique perspective; that is, I am able to understand a child's development in a global sense. This perspective of a child allows me to fully understand each child as an individual as a part of the whole classroom, which enables me to effectively and appropriately differentiate lessons. Due to this training in Early Intervention services, I have a comprehensive view of a child in the education system, which allows me to be a quality and qualified teacher.
