Job Description

We are a STAR 3 Center looking for energetic, team players who are flexible in meeting the school's needs.  We intend to assist our staff with their own development, allowing staff to attend school, further their education, and attain their career goals.  

We are currently hiring for our 5615 Germantown Ave. location.  We will also seek new staff for our 926 Sedgley Ave. location in the Fall.
 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Patience, professionalism, team oriented, sensitivity to children’s needs, vocabulary skills, and maintain a neatness of one’s self.

Minimum of two years of experience as a Lead Teacher of a STAR 2 or higher early childhood center in PA.

CDA, Associates, Bachelors, or Masters in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, K-4, or Child Development (transcripts required).

Strong positive communication and written skills.

Knowledge of word perfect, and general computers.

Required Trainings: Mandated Child Abuse, Fire Safety, Pediatric Firs Aid & CPR, Health and Safety 6 hour training, and New Staff Orientation.

Required trainings in first year of higher: ITERS, ECERS, PA Learning Standards, Work Sampling/Ounce Scale, Observations, Common Illness, Inclusive Practices, and Truama.

Maintain 24 hours of training per year.

In addition, he/she must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, use arms hands, legs and feet, with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job.

He/She must have the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, and demonstrate the ability to see and read newsprint, with or without corrective lenses, to speak and be understood under normal circumstances. 

Two written references documenting experience 4,160 hours of working with children and describing how well you work with children.

Health Screening with TB/chest x-ray

Sound clearances – FBI, Child Abuse, and Criminal.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

Reports to the Group Supervisor.

Responsible for assigned children from the Group Supervisor.

Responsible for marinating documentation assigned by Group supervisor.

Supervise and implement as instructed by the Group Supervisor the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the child's Day.

Treat children with dignity and respect.

Supervise and promote activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of each child enrolled at the Center.

Supervise upkeep of all educational equipment and materials in assigned area.

Sit with children during all meals and encourage development of sound nutritional practices while engaging in conversations.

Help children to become aware of their roles as integral members of a group.

Be responsible for the cleanliness, ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment of the classroom and its learning centers.

Assume house-keeping responsibilities for their classroom.

Attend all staff meetings. Plan and implement one staff training meeting each school year.

Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth, maintaining current knowledge of early childhood practice.

Supervise all activities to ensure safety at all times.

Prepare daily attendance report for children in assigned group.

Help children establish good habits of personal hygiene; change diapers and assist with toileting/training.

Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the Center at all times.

Participate in professional organizations that work for the improvement of early childhood education.

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Applicants must meet the minimum requirements:

Floater and Before & After School Teacher  - M-F, 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM

Hiring Requirements:

H.S. Diploma willing to enroll in CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential at hire OR Preschool or School Age CDA.

Kindergarten Teacher M-F, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM OR 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM

Hiring Requirements:

An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Elementary Education Birth-4th grade (Certification a PLUS!)

ALL CANIDATES MUST PROVIDE:

·        Documentation of 2 years’ experience working with children.

·        Health Assessment Physical & TB shot (no more than three            months old)

·        Clearances (Criminal, FBI Fingerprints, & Mandated Child              Abuse)

·        Copy of your H.S. Diploma, CDA, or unofficial college trasncript.
