Job Description

Assisting lead teacher with:

Assuring the welfare, health and safety of the children in the class.

Organizing and maintaining classroom activity areas, materials and supplies.

Keeping director advised of equipment and materials needed as well as equipment repair or replacement needs.

Maintaining constant supervision of children.

Working effectively with teacher assistant(s), co-workers, and volunteers.

Establishing and maintaining effective communication with parents, children and coworkers.

Maintain a professional attitude with co-workers, director, and parents.

Complete hours of training required to maintain position.

Comply with regulations as stated by licensing agencies (DCD, DHHS, Health Dept. etc.)

Inform director of any classroom problems or potential problems.

Originate or maintain appropriate paperwork on students enrolled in classroom.

Attend teacher and staff meetings.

Assist lead teacher with maintaining records on each child’s progress and development for the purpose of planning and compliance with NCDCDEE & NAEYC policies, NC Foundations, and procedures and environmental rating scales.

Lead Teacher and Assistant teacher is responsible for the full implementation of the Licensing performance standards, policies and procedures, regulations and guidelines in the day-to-day operation of an early childhood center (0 years-36 months of age) including developmentally appropriate practices for this age group.

Job Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age. Prefer an Associate or Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education but will except an NC Early Childhood Credential with at least 1-year experience in an one year old or two year old classroomBe able to lift 25-30 lbs.

Be able to physically be with children: walk, run, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety and complete daily routines of the program.
