Job Description

There is an opening for a Lead Teacher position. This will be a contractor position, NOT federal or state employee.

Responsibilities:

Serves as a team leader for program staff with responsibility for the assigned classroom. Works with team members to prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedule. Models appropriate behaviors and techniques for working with children.

Maintains control of and accounts for the whereabouts and safety of children. Oversees arrival/departure of children. Supervises children during daily schedule of indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, and special events. Works in ratio with children.

Encourages participant interest and establishes a program setting that promotes positive child interactions with other children and adults. Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children using prescribed curriculum. Implement activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of children.

Interacts with children using approved child guidance and development techniques. Interacts professionally with staff members, parents, and the Command. Participates in conferences with parents, program staff, and school representatives. Briefs other employees and parents. Notes special instructions provided by parents.

Ensures children depart with authorized person according to written parental instruction. Provides opportunities for parent involvement.

Ensures team members follow safety, fire, fitness, health and nutrition procedures and informs supervisor of compliance concerns. Ensures children and staff are signed in/out as required to ensure accountability. Ensure staff/volunteers. Visitors under LOSS are never left alone with children. Relays instructions from the supervisor.

Uses designated evaluation materials to ensure assigned area is in compliance with Army baseline standards and metrics. Ensures assigned area achieves and maintains standards for DoD/Army certification and national accreditation or Army equivalent. Provides care/supervision, oversight, and accountability for program participants in compliance with DoD, Army and local policies, guidance, and standards.

Completes designated training requirements and tracks and records training on own Individual Development Plan (IDP).

All required background checks of AR 215-3, must be successfully completed and maintained including Child and Youth National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI); to include a health assessment is required. Successful completion of prescribed training (transition and/or annual) is required.

Job Requirements

Qualification Requirements :

Meet entry-level requirements and candidate must:

Meet Target-level requirements and satisfactory performance.

Possess eighteen (18) months experience working in a group program with children and/or youth. Work as a target level CYPA is highly preferred

Posses and maintain one of the following: Child Development Associate (CDA), Army School Age Credential (including Boys and Girls of America) or Army Practicum. ACDS Completion accepted also.

OR

Possess twelve (12) months experience working in a group program with children and/or youth. Work as a target level CYPA is highly preferred.

Possess AA degree with major emphasis in childcare.

OR

Possess BA/BS degree with a major emphasis on ECE, Elementary/Secondary Education, Child Development, Youth Development, Home Economics, Special Education or related behavioral sciences.
