The Merit School is seeking an experienced Director for our new child care center opening soon in Arlington, VA. The Academy Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the education and care program within the Academy. He/she must possess strong, hands-on leadership and communication skills necessary to promote a professional work environment and maintain excellent relationships with our families.
The Director will enforce all The Merit School company policies and should possess knowledge of relevant licensing and accreditation standards to ensure compliance within his/her facility. The Director must possess strong financial and operational management skills necessary to provide oversight of the budget for the Academy. He/she must also have experience in marketing to move their facility ahead in the child care environment. The Director is also responsible for the recruitment and retention of qualified educators and staff within the Academy. Skills in training, management, and professional development are also a requirement to help staff meet Academy and individual goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum one (1) year supervisory experience
• Minimum two (2) years' experience as a classroom teacher or child care provider
• Proficiency in Financial Reporting and Budget Management
• Excellent Leadership and Teambuilding Skills
• Proficiency in Marketing to Enable Growth of Academy
• Proficiency in Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to Multi-Task and Problem Solve in Fast Paced Environment
• Proven Ability to Recruit, Develop, and Retain Quality Staff
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Other duties as assigned
Preferred:
• Knowledge of Virginia Licensing Standards
• Experience with ProCare
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Requirements:
• Completion of CDA, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
• Extensive or progressively more responsible experience working with young children; school setting and/or child care facility.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience working with students, families and staff from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
