The San Jose Job Corps clinic is currently seeking a registered nurse for the position of Health and Wellness Manager.  The Health and Wellness Manager is responsible for the overall supervision and operation of the health and wellness clinic.  The San Jose Job Corps clinic operates in a manner similar to a community clinic. 


HOURS-8:00am to 5:00pm

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages the day-to-day operations of the clinic to ensure smooth functioning.

Supervises and evaluates the performance of clinic staff.

Facilitates interdepartmental problem-solving and conflict resolution.

Works closely with the center psychologist to ensure the safety and well-being of students with anxiety, depression, substance abuse issues, etc.

Provides direct patient care: assessments and screening, nursing interventions, urgent and emergency care, education and referral services, in conjunction with health and wellness staff and health subcontractors.

Performs quality assurance and health record audits

Plans and delivers new hire orientation training and annual OSHA related  staff training.

Ensures compliance with Federal Job Corps program regulations as well as with all Federal and State regulatory requirements.

Collaborates with departments to identify and ensure that processes and procedures are in place to provide quality support services on center when the clinic is closed.

Manages, monitors and orders equipment and supplies necessary for the efficient functioning of the clinic.


Ensures the reporting of all communicable diseases, child abuse cases, etc. as mandated by state and county regulations

Ensures the proper storage, handling and disposal of hazardous wastes generated by the health and wellness center

Establishes and implements disability plans for medical and mental health disabilities

Prepares and submits workplace accident reports through the Federal OSHA website


Job Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Minimum: Licensed by State as a Registered Nurse. Three years’ experience as a practicing nurse, one of which was in a lead or supervisory capacity.

Preferred: Four or more years’ experience

Knowledge Required: Strong working knowledge of nursing techniques/procedures. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Strong computer skills. Familiarity with the medical needs of disadvantaged youth. Must obtain and maintain BLS/First Aid certificates. Sound management techniques. Ability to handle multiple priorities.
