Job Description

Position Summary

The program Psychiatrist will work with children, adolescents, and adults as needed for the strength of the program. The scope of the work includes performing Psychiatric evaluations, mental status reports and medication management. Will work collaboratively with the clinical team through participation in inter- disciplinary rounds, case reviews and consultations.

Essential Duties and Functions

  • Perform psychiatric evaluations as needed.
  • Perform medication checks as needed.
  • Provide psychotherapy to clients as determined by Program Director.
  • Be available for consultations, support for emergencies.
  • Proficient in Electronic Health Records (Avatar preferably)
  • Participate in inter-disciplinary rounds, case conferences, RHD meetings, community events, as required by the Program Director.
  • Required to maintain all licenses, certifications and to take all required continuing education courses. The Staff Psychiatrist declares that the Staff Psychiatrist has complied with all federal, state, and local laws regarding licenses that may be required to carry out the work to be performed under this Agreement.
  • To participate in client/doctor/psychiatrist meetings and to provide client supervision when scheduled.
  • To inform the Program Director if you need additional cases.
  • To inform the Program Director of any scheduling changes regarding times and days on site
Prepare and complete all paperwork required for regulatory inspections, insurance authorizations and/or under LMCMS' policies. This paperwork includes:
                i.    Sign Services Rendered Sheets at the beginning of the day for all clients.
                ii.   Have clients sign Services Rendered Sheets at each session.
                iii. Place Service Rendered Sheets in charts signed by you and the client for all face-to-face sessions.
                iv. Place Service Rendered Sheets in charts signed by you for all clients who are no shows, canceled and/or missed appointments.
                v.   Writing a Progress Note after each scheduled session in Electronic Health Record, 
                vi.  Reviewing and Updating Psychiatric Evaluations, Treatment Plans of clients, SSDI Evaluations, any other legally required documentation etc. in accordance with state regulations.
               vii. Handing in a Daily Service Log at the end of each day, showing appointments completed and canceled, missed and kept.
               viii. Filling out all paperwork required by SSI/SSDI or by any other agency which works with the client.
                ix. Remembering that you are a part of a team that includes the Staff Psychiatrist, Director, and other LMCMS staff, and that you must inform them of any destructive behaviors or thoughts or any other behavior that might require hospitalization.

Working conditions
The Outpatient Center serves a high acuity demographic in a fast pace environment. This is a collaborative and supportive behavioral health and mobile services program.
Pennsylvania State Licensed Psychiatrist Requirements: Licensed M.D., Board certified in child and/or adult psychiatry, experienced in community mental health and substance abuse.
Qualifications include:
  • Medical Degree from accredited Medical School
  • 2 years plus experience working with mental health and drug & alcohol population
  • Holds all accredited and mandated licenses and credentialing as stated
  • MAT Certification
  • EHR
  • Professional Certification and affiliation with national Psychiatry Organizations
  • Holds firm under pressure and able to multi task with a calm demeanor
