Job Description

We are seeking a Family Support Specialist for the Special Cases program.

As a Family Support Specialist (FSS) you will assist in providing supervised visitation between parents/caregivers involved with the Department of Child Safety (DCS).  You will teach parenting skills and child development education, promote positive parent-child relationships and interactions, and provide case management/linkage to community resources to parents/caregivers during individual visits. Supervised visits take place in the families’ homes, visitation centers or in the community.

As an FSS you will also work with parents to assist them in making behavioral changes needed to safely parent their children with a goal of helping the family reunify. You will continuously assess the safety of children during supervised visitations, assist families in achieving self-sufficiency, and link families to natural supports and other community supports.

As an FSS you will transport children to and from visitation, as needed, and typically work with four to six families at one time depending on scheduling availability.  Visitation is provided at times that are best for families and children; afternoon, evening and weekend visitation is common.

This position is offered full-time with an excellent benefits package.  Southwest Human Development is an equal opportunity employer.
