Job Description

General Summary
The FCCH assistant teacher helps with the implementation of educational and developmentally appropriate curriculum, lesson plans and programs for the children enrolled in the FCCH.  Carries out scheduled activities and programs, and works under the direction of the FCCH provider.  The assistant teacher also observes all activities of assigned children to assure a safe, learning environment. Cares for children aged 3 months to twelve years.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans, adapts and schedules age-appropriate curriculum involving various activities to stimulate children’s skills, abilities, growth, and development.

Provides continuous supervision to children to ensure the health and safety of children.

Maintains FCCH rooms and play areas in a clean, orderly, and safe condition; sets up rooms and areas for various activities such as lunch, snack, naps, games, etc.

Records daily observations of children’s behavior and activities; monitors and records behavioral patterns and assists FCCH provider on assessment and profiles.

Communicates with parents daily on children’s development, progress and concerns as needed.

Maintains daily accurate attendance (log in and food program).

Changes diapers and/or assists in toilet training as appropriate.

Requests children’s supplies from parents and materials for classroom use from FCCH provider.

Maintains current knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Education.

No corporal punishment allowed. Example: yelling, threatening, skipping food as punishment and other unreasonable punishments that would impact the mental and emotional growth of a child.

Job Requirements

Minimum qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
1. Education must at least be in college level preferably in Early Childhood Education but not required.

2. Ability to lift and hold up to 40 pounds for 50% of work time when caring for children (e. g. carrying a child who is upset), to walk and stand up for 50% of time, push and/or pull up to 40 pounds 35% of work time, bend and/or stand up to 75% of work time, sit up to 35% of work time, and kneel up to 45% of work time.
3. Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times.
4. Adheres to licensing, government subsidized programs and MBC’s specific safety standards and guidelines.
5. Works collaboratively and supports efforts of team members.
6. Ability to communicate positive and constructive feedbacks to the children and parents in a daily basis.

7. Minimum requirement of high school diploma.

8. Cleared fingerprinting from State of California Department of Justice.  ORI: A0448

9. TB test – negative result.

10. First aid and CPR certified.

11. Obtain CDSS shot requirement: Influenza, pertussis, and measles.

12. Obtain CDSS certification of completion of Mandated Reporter AB 1207 Compliant Child Care Training.

13. Health Screening Report – Facility Personnel
