Job Title: Lead Daycare Provider (Infant/Toddlers) Job Description 

Department: Education 

FLSA Status: Professional Exempt

Reports to: Executive Director and Director of Teaching and Learning, and other assigned supervisors

Position Overview: Daycare Provider (Infant/Toddlers) at Washington Yu Ying are part of a collaborative and supportive faculty with a common goal of continuously improving a great school. 

Essential Responsibilities:

Daycare Provider possess the following skills/responsibilities: 

* Plan and conduct an effective child development program to meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of each child. This should be done based on the goals and general curriculum developed by  Washington Yu Ying PCS

* Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and imaginative play

* Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling and field trips. 

* Teach basic skills such as color, shape, exploration, personal hygiene and social skills

* Arrange indoor and outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities and safety. 

* Demonstrated ability to provide care  in ways that are interactive, child-led, hands-on, inquiry-based, and promote self-discovery

* Has a clear understanding of child development

* Understands of scope and sequence and learning objectives

Demonstrated ability to establish an effective, respectful  and efficient classroom culture

*Attend to children’s basic needs, such as feeding, dressing, diapering, hand washing, napping, transitioning, etc. Ensure these child care routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic and consistent with good child development principles. 

* Establish and enforce expectations  for behavior, and procedures for maintaining orders

* Enforce Yu Ying’s daycare policies and procedures 

* Observe children to detect signs of illness, injury, abuse, neglect, emotional disturbance, or other special needs, and report these signs immediately to the Director

* Identify children showing signs of emotional or health-related challenges, and discuss them with supervisors, parents or guardians, and child development specialists. 

* Observe and evaluate children’s performance behavior, social development, and physical health. 

* Demonstrated ability to use student material and feedback to inform instruction on an ongoing basis

* Ensure that parents receive adequate information about their child’s experiences at the center through daily contacts and regularly scheduled parent conferences. Meet with parents and guardians regularly to discuss their children’s progress and needs, determine their priorities for their children and suggest ways that they can promote learning and development.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Have earned an Associate’s degree or more advanced degree in Early Childhood from an accredited institution or CDA with preschool or infant/toddler endorsement. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred)

Have experience working with infants and toddlers

Meet state educational licensing and additional center/school requirements

CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain

Ability to speak Chinese is a plus
