Work directly with the Child Care Supervisor to provide a fun and caring environment for children in after-school programs. Plan and create group and individual activities appropriate for school age children.
We’re looking for a childcare teacher who has the amazing skills to:
-Plan, post and implement daily age appropriate lesson plans, field trips, and activities that include emphasis in social/emotional skills, cognitive skills, artistic skills, motor development, and language development.
-Prepare art supplies, games, bulletin boards, and other learning materials for the day.
-Initiate and maintain communication with parents, guardians, therapist, or social workers to share information about a child’s progress and needs.
-Observe children for possible signs of illness, abuse, or developmental delays and document and report observations to the Center Supervisor.
-Maintain the health and well-being of the children with proper medication administration, healthy snack preparation, and classroom cleanliness.
-Prepare and maintain records and documentation of children that includes health information, behavior, attendance, and progress evaluations.
-Maintain a learning environment with appropriate and positive discipline.
-Perform a variety of clerical duties that include telephone communication, registration and fee collection, and conduction of Center tours.

Education and Work Experience Requirements
HS Diploma (or equivalent) AND Completion of 6 credits of post high school child development coursework OR Completion of entry-level childcare services coursework is required.
Associate Degree in Child Development or related field with 6 credits of child development coursework is preferred.
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements
-Knowledge of childhood growth and development from birth through 12 years of age, as well as children with special needs.
-Knowledge of child behavior, and behavior modification and safety, sanitation and nutrition pertaining to the child care setting.
-Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with children, parents, therapists, and other staff.
-Ability to organize, schedule work priorities effectively and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
-Possess a working knowledge of the child care rules and regulations in the state of Wisconsin.
-Ability to detect and recognize potentially dangerous situations and take immediate and appropriate action.
