Job Description

KidSpace is a Child Care and Learning Center conveniently located near downtown Akron.  Our mission at KidSpace is to: Provide a safe play environment that encourages learning through exploration and curiosity, Strengthen the development of social, intellectual, and communication skills; and Reinforce the importance of total family wellness.  We believe that KidSpace is the perfect place for young children and we are looking for a full time Director to manage the staff and business aspects of the KidSpace program. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule and occasionally attend meetings and trainings in the evenings.

 

Responsibilities include: Provide training and supervision for all Teachers, staff, volunteers and interns; Hire, evaluate, and motivate staff members; Provide direct child care services as needed (i.e., schedule staff, set hours for services), provide direct service as scheduled and as backup; Design and conduct support and education groups for children and parents; Provide parents with education and case management concerning child and family issues; Organize and coordinate family activities when appropriate (i.e., holiday gifts and parties); Coordinate safety, quality care, appropriate toys, equipment, and activities within the child care facility; Act as an administrator of the CHC Licensed Day Care Center; Assume all tasks and responsibilities as outlined in the Child Care Administrator job description;  Keep KidSpace in compliance with all State Licensing Rules by inspecting the center, classrooms, files, paperwork, and communicating with teachers.

 

Requirements include: Bachelor’s degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education. Experience in direct group child care services, Child Development or CDA preferred; Strong supervisory skills, vision and leadership; Must be dedicated to inspiring and teaching children and building a team of individuals who are committed to providing outstanding customer service; training in First Aid, CPR, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse/Neglect preferred; must be at least 18 and submit to being fingerprinted.
