Job Description

As a primary source of childcare in the southern area of Harrisonburg, Oasis Preschool & Nursery provides exceptional, quality care for every child, every family, everyday.  Infants through children twelve years of age are cared for in our center.   We are looking for qualified candidates to help spread our philosophy to the children and families of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.  Oasis is over-seen by a Non Profit 501-c-3 Board of Directors, also known as New Dimensions of Grace.  We also hold a religious exempt status with the State of VA.

We build meaninfgul and emotional connections with families to ensure we develop the needs of the whole child (socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually).  Being and employee of Oasis means you care deeply about making a positive difference in the lives of children and families through the power of educaiton.  

When you join our team as a Center Director you will:

  • Lead your team to deliver the mission of Oasis and care by serving children and families in your community.
  • Create a caring and stimulating atmosphere, with committed and enthusiastic staff to give each child endless opportunities to develop and feel safe.
  • Encourage and empower your teams’ enthusiasm for learning.
  • Cultivate positive partnerships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts and corporate partners.
  • Ensuring curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices are in place in the center.
  • Conducting tours for prospective parents and enrolling new families
  • Promote the positive image of the company and play a major role in making the company a provider of choice in educational programs for the communities that we service.
  • Creating and implementing local marketing plans to drive enrollment.
  • Ensuring licensing standards are met.
  • Assisting teachers with the weekly development and execution of the curriculum and program activities.
  • Monitoring and managing the financial progress of your center.
  • Ensuring a safe environment for the children in our care.

Toys are fun, but toys are also tools that help children learn about themselves and the world around them. Play is critical to the healthy growth and development of children. As children play, they learn to solve problems, to get along with others and to develop the fine and gross motor skills needed to grow and learn.

Job Requirements

The desired qualifications to join our mission:

 

  • Related Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree(Early Childhood Education preferred), or a CDA with two years of programmatic experience and one year staff supervisory experience, or equivalent work experience required
  • 5+ years of strong management experience with the ability to lead and develop an inspired and committed team
  • Knowledge of Virginia Licensing Regulations
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service and relationship building with families, center team and community
  • Strong organization skills, computer skills, and the ability to multi-task and manage multiple situations effectively
  • Budget and financial accountability with revenue-generation experience preferred
  • Ability to sustain a high level of energy, excel in a competitive environment, and thrive under constant transition
  • Must be physically able to use a computer, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors as needed
  • Must meet Virginia guidelines for the role of director
