Job Description

The Preschool Teacher is responsible for the children in the Early Learning Center (ELC) under the direction of the Lead Teacher. The ELC uses a curriculum guided by the Arizona Early Learning Standards in the areas of social, emotional development, language and literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, physical development and fine arts. The ELC provided individualized learning for every child, accepts children with diverse backgrounds, and supports all levels of skills and abilities.    

 

Job Duties:

  • Assist in the development of the Daily Lesson Plans: Promote physical, mental and social development.  Examples include games, arts and crafts, music and storytelling.
  • Supervise direct care providers in the absence of the Lead Teacher
  • Leading instructions: Teaching basic skills.  Examples include colors, shapes, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene and social skills.
  • Open flow of communication with ELC team and Assistant Director.
  • Create a safe learning environment
  • Collaborate with co-teaching methodology as directed by the Lead Teacher.
  • Attend to children’s basic needs:  Feeding, dressing, and changing their diapers as appropriate
  • Classroom management.
  • Data collection.
  • Maintaining DHS guidelines of health and sanitation.
  • Professional and friendly interaction with parents, family members, staff and visitors.
  • Willing to work in all ELC rooms as needed.
  • Enrollment and ongoing promotion of classroom programs.
  • Training and ongoing professional development.
  • Willing to work in all ELC rooms as needed.
  • Provide tours for potential new families.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to multi-task.

 

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE)/related field; or
  • National Accreditation Commission (NAC)/ Child Development Associate (CDA)/   Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) or
  • Associate’s degree in ECE/related field; or
  • High school diploma with 6 months’ experience; or
  • Knowledge of DHS licensing guidelines.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Fingerprint clearance.
  • Food Handler’s certification.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance.
