Assistant Daycare Teacher
I instruct 19 toddlers in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth needed for primary school. I incorporate learning opportunities using a child's natural inclination to play. I provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use both in learning activities and in imaginative play. I create and implement activities and lesson plans that simultaneously engage and educate children. I organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips. In addition to teaching, I often must provide diverse basic care needs to include supplying proper nutrition, performing cleaning duties and dealing with behavioral issues. I observe children for signs that may indicate illness, abuse or neglect and report as directed. I ensure children depart with authorized persons according to written parental instruction. I also provide supervision and discipline in addition to instruction and administrative duties. I am occasionally tasked with speaking with parents to discuss a child's educational development. I monitor and am responsible for maintaining the overall health and well-being of the children under my supervision. I provide care, oversight and accountability for program participants in compliance with local, state and federal policies, guidance and standards.
