Responsibilities: preparing a warm, safe environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing permitting the children to grow and explore, establishing and maintaining good communication with staff and parents, following curriculum guidelines, attending monthly staff meetings, training new employees so that discipline is appropriate and constant, completing daily reports and maintaining all records and files, sharing the responsibility for the daily upkeep of the center, keeping the classroom and the bulletin boards decorated, being responsible for positive discipline of children in the center, overseeing the daily activities of an assigned group of children, organizing activities in addition to those prepared by the Director or curriculum, interacting with the children and encouraging their involvement in the activities, maintaining updated CPR and Emergency First Aid certification, attending annual childcare courses, carrying out those duties of daily housekeeping such as setting up mats for nap time, snack preparation, cleaning bathrooms, etc., and any other duties assigned by the Director.
Lead Teacher – Infant Room (February 2016 – June 2017) Lighthouse Christian Academy (2325 Roswell Road, Marietta, GA 30062)
Responsibilities: create an open, friendly, and cooperative atmosphere in which children and families feel comfortable and secure, communicate effectively with staff, parents, and children, train new employees, ensure the safety of children through constant supervision, provide effective arrangement of space, provide regular practice of fire drills and other emergency procedures, operate the classroom in compliance with all childcare licensing standards, provide a variety of language stimulation activities, ensure the parents receive adequate information about their child’s experiences at the center through daily contacts, maintain written records designated to evaluate each individual child, greet infants and their parents warmly with enthusiasm each morning, initiate classroom activities, display children’s creative artwork, work as a member of a team to ensure continuity and a high standard of quality in all classrooms, contribute to the operation of the center by participating in monthly staff meetings, inspect the school site and equipment for possible hazards, maintain confidentiality of a child and family information at all times, use equipment and supplies safely, keeping physical environment clean and orderly, observe children to detect any sign and report that sign to the Director immediately, provide daily care individually to each infant, promote parent-child bonding and relationships, and ensure that childcare routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with the good child development principles.
