To whom this may concern,
My name is Moira Dalton and I am a registered dance/movement therapist.
I have experience working with people of all ages from, toddlers to adults into their seventies. After I finished my thesis, I was offered a job at an early intervention preschool for children with mental disabilities and behavioral/emotional issues. The preschool is affiliated with an outpatient /school that I interned at the year before. I facilitated thirty-seven dance/movement therapy sessions a week. I also have experience working at an outpatient treatment/school for children and adolescents, between ages 5 and 21 with a wide range of psych diagnoses. Prior to that, I worked on an adult inpatient psychiatric unit at Woodhull Hospital. I worked with patients between the ages of twenty-one and seventy-eight years old. I gear each dance/movement therapy session differently for each group and or individual patient. Dance/movement therapy helps the individual with regulation, tolerance, body awareness, spacial awareness, self-acceptance, emotional expression, physical health and creativity. Dance also brings joy and freedom to patients and I have received joy in return when working with patients!
I believe I would be a great addition to your team as I am hard working and passionate about creative arts therapy. I am an independent person yet I also value and enjoy being a part of a team. I have seen how communication with other clinicians and teachers have helped to serve the patients best. I would be honored to be a part of your team. I am highly interested in learning more about your facility and the patients you serve. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or email me as I will look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for your time.
Best,
